Challenges
Summary: Harry is so hungry for positive attention that he'll do anything for the approval of his teachers and peers. What will Snape do when he notices first-year Harry's unhealthy relationships with the people of Hogwarts and the Dursley’s?
Required:
Harry must do everything in his power to hide the abuse of his peers and family.
Harry must be overly conscious about what people think of him. (If you choose, this can be a lifelong struggle…or Snape can help him to heal completely, your choice.)
Brownie Points: If you include this scene: Snape makes multiple jabs at Harry’s unruly hair. Harry comes into class one day with his hair slicked back with too much gel in an attempt to get Snape to like him more. Snape only sneers and makes hurtful comments about the boy’s incompetence.

Summary: It struck me that Harry would have had a very different kind of life if he had been old enough to remember his parents, magic, the wizarding world. And it would have been a very different world if Voldemort had been allowed to continue his quest for power for several years longer than in canon.
So, how do you think Harry would be different if he had lived with his parents until he was 7 or 8 (or so)?
-Would he have befriended other canon characters?
-What role does Sirius play in his life?
-Does Sirius still get sent to Azkaban?
-If so, how is Harry impacted?
-How would the wizarding world be different?
-How would Snape be different after spying for so many years?
-How would Snape have changed with Lily alive?
-Did Snape and Lily make up, or does Harry meet him at Hogwarts?
-How would that dynamic influence their relationship?
Of course those questions don't all need to be answered, but I think that such a change prompts very interesting questions.

Summary: When Harry calls Sirius and James' treatment of Snape out after the Pensieve Incident, Sirius does something unforgivable to Harry. How will everyone deal with the aftermath?

Summary: Severus and Harry land in Middle Earth! :)
They are too young to go on the quest, as they are young elves/elflings! :) Younger than Legolas - for they have not reached their majority, despite the fact they were adults prior to this.
How they got to Middle Earth is up to you - perhaps they died in the Final Battle, or they decided to get away from the old world and wanted to start living in the new one. Regardless of which way you choose, they have family/kin in Rivendell! :)
You can have either Erestor or Elrond become Severus' father (I would love Erestor for this, as I could see where the snarkiness comes from).
Severus will be feeling lost and unsure of himself - without his potions he'll feel like he has no purpose. Bonus if you have him working and learning with Elrond making salves and whatnot for the healing wing, and maybe even learning the healing arts himself. Extra points if you have Harry joining the lessons as well.
Severus will be his usual snarky self. Both he and Harry will have some previous memories intact, not all. Both will exhibit the abuses they suffered - Severus at Tobias' hands and Harry's at his relations' hands.
At any rate, both he and Harry become family before their arrival in ME and during. How they are family I leave up to you. :D (Don't you just love freedom of choice?)
They will also need to learn the history of the Eldar and other subjects that they need to know to live in their new world, so Erestor will be teaching them both at the same time.
Anything else that is plausible I leave to you dear author!

Summary: There are a few gen stories where Harry is forced or takes Severus on as his servant or slave to teach him how to be a better person after the war. What if a year or two after this happens the tables are turned on Harry and he becomes the servant or slave? Would Severus be cruel or kind? Would he have interpreted Harry's actions as peaceful or as downgrading? Or something in-between?

Summary: - Almost a 1000 years ago Salazar Slytherin, Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff, four brilliant, but foolish 15 year olds, drink unknowingly from a magic stream. Thus, never aging outwardly, any older then 15, nor ever able to be injured.
- Immediately after quenching their thirst the stream disappears.
- They very quickly learn to glamour their age 1 year older, every year.
- Slytherin and Ravenclaw marry at twenty.
- Gryffindor and Hufflepuff are good friends, but marry other spouses.
- The four founders have families, although thankfully the children are not immortal like both or one of their parents.
- At 125 years of age Slytherin wants to leave the school and get a quiet divorce from Ravenclaw. Why he wants to leave the school and Rowena is for you to decide. Although I would really prefer that he not divorce his wife for cheating or for doing the cheating.
- Throughout the decades and centuries the founders ‘die’ and take up new identities. Sometimes they de-age themselves to the age of 9, and get magically adopted into a wizard family. Where they look like the wizard family who willingly adopted them, assuming them to be a real kid.
- In the present day, Harry’s 5th, 6th, or 7th summer, Harry is out on a very hot day, and sees a new man-made stream (or fountain) running through the park. Upon drinking from it he soon feels strange and worries when it then disappears.
- Harry, back in his room, at the Dursley’s or living at 12 Grimmauld Place, unknowingly writes a help letter to Rowena Ravenclaw. Who comes to enlighten Harry that he now is immortal like she and some others.
- Ravenclaw’s current ‘new identity’, for many years now, is Professor McGonagall OR Hermione Granger. You decide which one.
- Now who are the other ‘disguised’ founders? Teachers OR students?
- Actually, to make this even more interesting have James Potter also be an immortal. Although whether he is one of the founders or just someone like Harry, who drank from the stream as a teen, is for you to decide.
- Was Kingsley Shacklebolt around during the 1st Voldemort war? If not maybe his image could be James glamour. Also, I will allow amnesia to explain why James didn’t raise Harry if need be.
- Voldemort, hears about the small group of immortals, and captures either Salazar Slytherin OR Godric Gryffindor. Whom he succeeds in possessing for a time.
- The three remaining founders, and the Order of the Phoenix go to rescue their possessed friend, unaware that on this day/night their 1000 anniversary of drinking from the stream all those years ago that they once again CAN be injured.
- The possessed founder is badly hurt, and Voldemort, while trying to escape in spirit form is finally destroyed.
- Lastly decide whether Harry now has to live a 1000 years before he CAN naturally get older again, OR was a second way found before they went off to kill Voldemort.
The point of this challenge is to keep mostly in character whomever you choose to be the founders of long ago. Thus, if you decide Hermione is Rowena Ravenclaw KEEP Hermione’s personality intact. Giving some of the main characters an OLD history was to give them added wisdom, experience, power, and a chance to be allowed to act a little differently. I wouldn’t mind seeing a less moody Ron Weasley as Gryffindor OR Slytherin. Or if Albus Dumbledore is a founder that would explain why he can move so fast when pressed to be somewhere in a hurry.
NOTE: Women can only be Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. Men can only be Slytherin or Gryffindor.

Summary: Severus decides to de-age himself to give himself a second chance at life, and Dumbledore assigns Harry the job of taking care of the 7 year old Potions Master. One problem. Severus remembers everything, but keeps this fact hidden. Does Harry find out?

Summary: Severus Snape was wandering the hallways looking for wayward students out of bed. He heard voices from around a corner and just as he was about to bust the rule braking students he hears something unexpected come from Ron's mouth.
"You need to go to a teacher and tell them what has been going on at the Durley's."
When he peeked around the corner he saw a prone boy that couldn't be Harry Potter sitting in a window sill with his knees pulled to his chest and tears streaking down his cheeks.
Takes place either first, second or third year. No evil Dumbledore, but Severus Snape's heart begins to melt.

Summary: - Write a 5th year story where Black learns what it means to be the DADA teacher to cheeky students, and grade paper work.
- Lupin is subbing for Hagrid.
- Harry, after a late insightful Occlumency lesson with Professor Snape heads down to Hagrid/Lupins hut for a dinner visit.
- Lupin and Black meet Harry halfway at the Whomping Willow.
- That night is the 20th anniversary of the Werewolf prank done to Professor Snape.
- Black, Lupin, and Harry see a ghost-like James hefting a blooded 15 year old Severus out from under the willow tunnel.
- Ghost James at a loss, tries to spell young Severus somewhere safe. Accidentally sending young Severus to Harry’s time.
- While unable to close the wound, Black, Lupin, and Harry all brush up against young Severus while taking him up to the castle.
- Dumbledore informs them that because of this physical contact one of them must always be within sight of young Severus until healed, otherwise the injured boy could be pulled ether ‘between time’ or permanently anchored in the present.
- Also, to send Severus back he must trust in someone.
- Professor Snape has disappeared.
- Students and parents too begin disappearing. Having ‘died’ before Voldemort was vanquished.
- Severus’ wound takes a long time to heal. Slowly he becomes friendlier to Black, Lupin and Harry (who he keeps mistakenly calling James). Although his trust they fear they might never get.
- Harry alone notices something not quite ‘true’ about Severus but he can’t quite name what.
- Severus receives a visit from Dumbledore and asks what will happen to the Marauders for pulling such a dangerous prank when he goes back. Dumbledore won’t tell, and gets a forced promise out of Severus not to tell anyone about Lupin. This visit happens on Remus’ watch.
- Harry and Severus visit Hogsmeade. Towards evening Severus tries to break away from Harry, and the two get caught by death-eater members.
- While being marched through some shadowy woods, Harry is startled when he notices Severus has switched their appearances’ with a complicated glamour spell. Plus given Harry a bad stutter as well.
- Severus, looking like ‘Harry’ talks Voldemort out of killing him and Snape’s ‘nephew’ by pledging his allegiance to obey Voldemort and take the mark, which has a two part spell to it.
- Harry watches as total fear and pain crosses Severus’ young glamoured face, as Voldemort himself draws the skull-snake tattoo on his arm.
- The order of the Phoenix rescues the two before the second part spell can be placed.
- Back at Hogwarts Severus simply refuses to look or talk to the three.
- Dumbledore visits, and sizing up the situation, throws an invisible spell over Black, Lupin, and Harry. Then putting a spell on Severus to forget they are in the room.
- Dumbledore talks for awhile, before asking Severus what he might do to ‘have’ Severus’ trust and willingness to return to his own time. Severus’ reply is ‘nothing’.
- Dumbledore then offers a small 100 year aged bottle of Complete Health Restoration. Which also requires an incantation. As well as Severus removing his glamour’s and robes.
- Severus, doesn’t move for a full ten minutes, before finally agreeing by silently taking off his clothes, glamour’s and laying on a bed.
- Black, Lupin, and Harry barely keep their silence as they lay eyes on Severus’ crippled left side. With a discolored blind eye. Badly bruised ear. Repeatedly broken arm. Repeatedly broken leg, and multiple belt buckle scars crisscrossing his back.
- Much later, after young Severus has gone back to his own time, and all others have reappeared, Harry asks Professor Snape why he took the dark mark a second time. Snape removes a complicated glamour off his left forearm to reveal a long, wide, thin metal cuff, branded with the mark instead.
Well this challenge is definitely more of a story outline. But that is all it will ever be unless one of you great authors decides to pick it up!
Bonus Points for little or no swearing.

Summary: After a particularly awful Occlumency lesson, an enraged Harry hides in the Room of Requirement and, sick of how Snape has treated him for years, wishes the Potions Master had never been born at all.
The next morning, Harry wakes up in a world where the Room granted his wish.

- Lily is alive.
- A Voldemort-controlled British WW.
- James having been tortured to death/insanity by Voldemort or one of his minions.
- Hogwarts being a safe haven to muggleborns.
