News System Maintenance
First and foremost, thanks to everyone signing up for the fic fest! We look forward to seeing some great works of literature make their debut. Edited to add: We will not be deleting accounts of those who have stories posted on the site. Only reader accounts which have not been used in a number of years. We don't want to lose any good stories either! :) Wands on 01 Mar 2012 11:23 pm [10 Comments]

Are you going to be deleting old accounts even if they have fanfics on them? I’d personally hate to see a good fic deleted because the author left fandom a few years ago L

No author accounts will be deleted. Only non-author accounts where there has been no activity for years. We are trying to fix site problems and these accounts are a drain on the servers. - ObsidianEmbrace on 02 Mar 2012 2:01 pm
Ah ok, well that makes a lot of sense. If they are just sitting there taking up space there is no point to them. If no fics will be lost the person can just make a new one if they ever decide to come back. - slashypotterness on 02 Mar 2012 8:04 pm
Yep, and sometimes people forget their account info so they make new accounts. So, this process will delete a lot of repeat accounts. Essentially, we are hoping that with a lot of this type of maintenance, we can give our servers a chance again. :P

Hey, While you're out and about doing clean-up... Last night I uplaoded my latest chapter and at the end of the chapter, prior to the end author note, a piece of code appeared. A reviewer pointed this out this morning. I tried to remove it, only to preview the chapter again and it was still there. When I responded to her to thank her for her heads-up, I went back in to reviews and spotted that piece of code again in the review. What's going on? I wouldn't be surprised if it shows up here as well. var fctb_tool=null; function FCTB_Init_313b27269c304b36bf263c52aea4cd2e(t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); } FCTB_Init_313b27269c304b36bf263c52aea4cd2e(document['FCTB_Init_8a3af1eabb664ddea200704efbdde935']); delete document['FCTB_Init_8a3af1eabb664ddea200704efbdde935'] - Zarathustra on 18 Mar 2012 1:24 pm
And there it is... var fctb_tool=null; function FCTB_Init_0f29139664f64601a8b0e0a0db820571(t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); } FCTB_Init_0f29139664f64601a8b0e0a0db820571(document['FCTB_Init_1bffe63014ad427e9698ce370a0cf7c4']); delete document['FCTB_Init_1bffe63014ad427e9698ce370a0cf7c4']

Ok - I just determined it is a firefox problem. I'm going to try to delete it from the chappie using explorer and see if it will let me. This did not happen with FF last weekend with the first chapter, BTW. Anybody want to research this problem?
- Zarathustra on 18 Mar 2012 1:29 pm
That worked, thank Merlin. I may just have to use explorer exclusively for your site in the future.
