Doctor Who! I love it!
I love this story and am dying to see what happens next. Will you be working on it again?
Hope you haven't totally given up on this one.
I really love this fic and desperately needed the re-read that I gave it over the past few days. Seriously, because pretty much all the fics on P&S are good to start off with but then just get too fluffy. And while fluffy Snape is good…he’s not my favorite when there’s still more angst to be had. And believe you me, Harry and Snape have had plenty of angst here, but it wouldn’t be any good if their situation just got better all of a sudden. Because, I’m sure you know this, both through how RL is probably kicking your butt right now, and through how you write this story, life isn’t fair and things just don’t get better on their own. You’ve gotta work so hard to make it just a little bit better, only to have three other things pop up out of nowhere that set you back again. And it’s because of this (and Sev’s realization that this is what RL is like) that I adore your fic!! The way you present your characters, especially a few chapters ago, with Dumbledore showing up, just to do some meddlesome manipulation…it was genius! And I really, really, really love this fic because Sev did exactly what he said he was going to be doing--watching out for Harry. By doing this, he didn’t want Draco to come to the house. Brilliant! And I say that because other authors consistently loose my interest when Draco shows up, just to play brother to Harry and son to Sevvie. So, thank you a ton(!!) for not letting Snape give in that easy. Especially since he was totally justified in his reasoning, because Draco would take that opportunity to ruin any chance of Harry having a meaningful recovery, even if he didn’t do it consciously…or even if he was trying to *help* Harry himself. Because right now, Draco can’t do that. Only Sev’s got the ability…when Harry lets him! :) And it must be because of this extra focus on reality that you maintain throughout this fic that makes me want to gobble it up…and then really moody and depressed after I read some. But my family will just have to deal, because it’s affecting me that much. Which is more than I’ve been feeling in quite some time, so thanks for that too. In addition to causing some crazy mood swings, this fic has seriously made me think about my fic some more…which is crazy in and of itself, especially since I came up with a great idea for later on, and have some strange desire to revise my story a tad--something I’ve been wanting to do since I updated last. (Which has been awhile.) But back to your actual fic--I really like how there’s the experimentation going on with Harry’s potion, again, adding in how realistic the whole thing is. And the fact that Sev lets Harry help is awesome, because he needs to have more to do with his recovery. And while I can see the point of another reviewer (can’t remember the name!) that Snape should let Harry sleep during the day; in fact, I don’t think this is a solution he should be considering. I took psychology a few years ago, and so can’t remember exactly, but it takes about two hours of non-disturbed sleep until you enter REM, and while this is where the majority of dreams take place, I don’t think it’s the only time…meaning Harry could have a nightmare after snoozing for two minutes. And this would not be good, because then Sev wouldn’t get anything done, needing to be constantly and consistently by Harry’s side whenever he shuts his eyes. Which, would then cause the health of the Professor to decline, thus preventing him from caring for Harry as much as he could. And Harry would be even less willing to fall asleep for real, especially when his little nap did nothing to replenish his magical core. And I think that there might not even be a potion to fix what’s wrong with Harry’s sleeping…but instead, the deep meditation will do the trick, but I’ll just watch and see what happens! :) Speaking of which Sev’s health, how’s his arm doing? I know what Dumbledore/Voldie did back in WtS wasn’t real, but is Ole Snake Face still sending summons to him? And could we perhaps hear more about Sev’s past? There seem to be a lot of instances where Snape could say more about what happened to him, for instance, he alludes to his own abuse, without speaking of any of it…this could be a good bonding technique, kinda like, “You answer one of my questions, Harry, and I’ll answer one of yours.” Unless you’ve got something else planned for them in the future, this could cause a breakthrough… Oh, and I hope there’s more unexpected Headmaster-ness, because, although he gives me the creeps (wanting to send Harry to St. Mungo’s, asking him about how he’s dealing with Sirius’ death when *clearly* there are other things going on, and wanting Draco to be taken in by Snape (in order to sabotage Harry’s recovery?)) I want to know *why* he’s giving me the creeps…like, you know, why he’s doing all those things…because it’s weird. Alright, I think this has grown quite long enough!! And I hope that whatever’s happening with you gets cleared up, not just because I want some more angsty chapters, but because having sucky days sucks, and when those days extend into weeks and months, well, it’s really pants. And, because I know what it’s like. So, I think I’ve got all I planned to say in here, along with some other things that were all spur of the moment, like!
