Reviews For Remembering Me
After speed reading up this far, I have finally come to a conclusion in regards to the story. I usually just read the whole thing if it's completed and then review, but there are several points that have been grating on me. I love the idea. Harry losing his memory and then slowly regaining it is a brilliant idea, and I love the potential it has. I really loved how Snape was the only person he recognized - and I have my own theories about that, but *shrug* - and Snape is really very in character. Always berating Potter, unbearably strict, and viewing him as his father's son - until of course he discovers the truth. However, there is one enormous thing that buggs me throughout the entire story, and that is the personality of Harry. He behaves, I feel, much younger than eleven and certainly nothing like he did in the books. Now, some of that can be explained because of his memory lapse, but I also think he should retain his core personality - He forgets events, but since you are having him slowly remember things he should still have the same personality and feelings/reactions even if he doesn't remember the history that shaped him. So I guess, I think the story is quite good. Very interesting, but Harry cries far too much and is too childish for the person that he was in the books. You have him crying almost every chapter, and I have a very hard time seeing this boy managing any of the accomplishments of the first book. Snape = Pure Awesomeness. Harry = Too Childish. I hope I wasn't too harsh in my critique, I believe in telling the truth.
I must say that I really have enjoyed your writing and while I was first apprehensive of continuing it because of Sev's horrible treatment of Harry, I knew that sooner or later Sev's more human side would win out and he'd stop being a monster. I am quite happy that everything has turned out well. I know when Harry goes back to Hogwarts, Sev will remain a strict parent, but he will also be a caring parent who is there for Harry. His strictness bothers me at times, but I see how after Harry is punished, he gets a hug and talks to Sev like it never happened. Every child should have that. I never had that growing up and perhaps that's why I took this fic so seriously with Snape being cruel at first. Either way, I hope you don't mind if I copy and paste this into a PDF so I can read this on my E-book reader several more times! Once more, I love your writing and appreciate the time you have given to grace us with such a beautiful heart warming story.
*sigh* the whole time Harry was thinking of going into that lab I was like 'No Harry! Noooo!!!!' lol poor kid. I like how Sev keeps slipping in these little one armed hugs and stuff. Omg and I love how he said he'd see to the drawings! That was really adorable! Oh, ha...Sev doesn't know it now, but he's going to spoil Harry ROTTEN soon! Harry is growing on him and growing on him. When Harry comes of age he's not going to know what to do with himself! Omg and when Harry is at Hogwarts and in his own dorm instead of in Sev's quarters, poor Sev is going to be so lonely. He'll probably find himself "punishing" Harry to his rooms, just so Harry will be there with him safe and protected. Lol, Sev is gonna turn into a mushball sooner or later. : D
I'm so glad their relationship is getting awesome. I liked how Sev pulled Harry for a hug whilst looking at the guardianship papers. That was sweet. And good job for Harry persuading Sev to change his bedtime! I knew Sev would give in. Technically he's had his bedtime changed by an hour. He doesn't have to go straight to bed, he can still bring a book or something with him and read for another half an hour. Lol, soon Harry will own the house!
Yay! *hugest smile everrrrr* : D |
